In a major development, Sanju Samson has been added to the T20I squad for the West Indies series as a replacement for KL Rahul. The latter was ruled out of the T20I squad after he tested positive for Covid-19. Rahul played for the Lucknow team in the Indian T20 league and was in great form. However, the batter sustained injury thereafter and was ruled out of the squad for the South Africa and the England series.

After a brief halt, he was added to the T20I squad for the T20I series against West Indies. The batter was undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Videos of his batting circulated earlier and the fans rejoiced his comeback. To add to his misery, KL Rahul tested positive for Covid-19 recently and missed the T20I series against West Indies, which starts today.

Sanju Samson has replaced KL Rahul in the squad.

Earlier, Sanju Samson's fans criticized the Indian Cricket Board for leaving him out of the T20I squad. Now, fate has it that he has stormed back into the T20I squad. He contributed well in the ODI series against West Indies. The batter made 72 runs in the three ODIs he played at an average of 36. He also scored a valuable 54 in the second ODI.

With opportunities knocking on his door every single time, it will be up to Samson to make the best use of them. With 20-20 World Cup right around the corner and competitions lining up, Sanju Samson has to make his opportunities count. For a classy batter like him, a big innings might be a confidence booster and might help his performance to follow.

India will play a five-match T20I series against West Indies until August 7. The matches will be played on July 29, August 1, 2, 6 and 7. This will be a great series as West Indies might look to resurrect themselves after losing the ODI series. They might come back harder at India, and the latter might look to dominate in the T20I series as well.
