Former India player Sanjay Manjrekar spoke in an interview about the Indian team. Manjrekar, who has been criticizing Ravindra Jadeja for the past many years, surprisingly appreciated him and said he will play a major role in Indian teams' success in major tournaments.

Manjrekar, who vocally criticized Jadeja in 2019, now refers to the all-rounder as a key player. In a statement to the media, Manjrekar stated that Jadeja's inclusion in the starting lineup for every World Cup 2023 match is a given, but he refrained from drawing comparisons between Jadeja and former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

Indian All-rounder Jadeja has shut all the critics by displaying prowess with both bat and ball in performances previously. In Asia Cup 2023 on Monday against Nepal, Jadeja claimed three crucial wickets and provided some respectability to the bowling attack.

"There is a very good chance, it’s almost a certainty that he will play all the World Cup matches. India can’t do without him. Axar Patel will be there in the reserves, but Jadeja will be the first-choice spin-bowling all-rounder. If the pitch is rough, if you have got a quality opposition, he will finish in 10 overs.

"But the batting all-rounder we had in 2011, Yuvraj Singh. It's not fair to compare his batting with Jadeja. So, I see him more as a bowling all-rounder with somebody who can be a threat at No. 7 or No.8. His white-ball career has changed completely in the last few years," Manjrekar said.

Jadeja equalled the record of Irfan Pathan in Asia Cup 2023

By capturing 22 wickets throughout the events, Ravindra Jadeja tied Irfan Pathan's record for most wickets taken by an Indian player in an Asia Cup. Jadeja has taken 22 wickets at an average of 24.77 in 16 ODI Asia Cup games, with his best bowling stats being 4/29. Irfan, on the other side, has taken 22 wickets at a 27.50 average in 12 ODI Asia Cup games. His 4/32 bowling average during the competition is his best.

The legendary spinner from Sri Lanka, Muttiah Muralitharan, has taken 30 wickets so far in ODI Asia Cup play, making him the tournament's leading wicket-taker. He is followed in wicket totals by fellow Sri Lankan pace icon Lasith Malinga (29), and Ajantha Mendis (26).
