One of the finest cricketers in the world, Virat Kohli has earned a large fan base throughout the world thanks to his batting exploits over the years. Many celebrities are also huge fans of the former Indian captain. Kohli dazzled fans with his on-field heroics and broke records for fun, but even the great had to go through the worst three years of his career.

Many questioned Kohli's place in the Indian team because he has been completely out of rhythm in all formats of the game since registering his last Test century in 2019 against Bangladesh. However, his bat started to do the talking again as he slammed his maiden T20 international century against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup. It was a relief not only for Kohli but for all of his fans who had been waiting for an end to his century drought.

Meanwhile, on a recent episode of Star Sports' #IPLonStar, Indian actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu recalled Kohli's comeback moment in last year's Asia Cup and revealed she almost cried when he hit a century. "Virat Kohli is an inspiration, I almost cried when he made the comeback & scored the hundred", she said.

Staying away from the game helped me: Kohli on his return to form

However, Kohli was still surrounded by criticism for his inclusion in the 2022 T20 World Cup squad. The batting stalwart shut all his critics with a magical performance at the MCG against arch-rivals Pakistan, scoring a match-winning 82* in the marquee event. The redemption of King Kohli started from there and he went on to smash back-to-back hundreds in ODIs and even ended his drought in the longer format of the game.

Speaking on rediscovering himself again, Kohli said: “I needed to connect myself as a human first, not judge myself constantly or keep myself under the scrutiny all the time. Staying away from the game helped me. That helped me rediscover the excitement and love for the game. When I came back, everything was an opportunity, nothing was pressure.

“The results followed. I was able to play well in T20Is, ODIs, and recently in the Test series as well. I’m back to playing the way I do, there’s still a lot of room to get to my best, which hopefully happens in the ITL if I get to the level I really want to play. That would help the team,” Kohli said in a conversation with his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore.
