Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar was seen mocking his former teammate Kamran Akmal for his accent on live television. This comes days after Akhtar pointed out that most Pakistani players cannot speak English and that is their shortcoming, which has drawn criticism from current and former players.
In a video that surfaced on social media, Akhtar first praised Akmal and then mocked his English accent while talking to the host. Akhtar, popularly known as 'Rawalpindi Express', said,
“Kami is our match winner…he must be listening to this…he has played really well for Pakistan.”
Later, mocking the wicketkeeper batter’s accent, Akhtar said, “mai sun raha tha, ye bhi keh raha tha sakreen…sakreen ni hota hai screen hota hai (I heard him speak, he was saying ‘sakreen’…it’s screen and not sakreen).”
Shoaib Akhtar is now Taking this Too far from here. He mocked Kamran Akmal on live TV, calling Skreen instead of Screen. I feel bad for Kamran Akmal. This is disgusting. #PSL08 #PSL8 #HBLPSL8 #PSL2023 pic.twitter.com/5Mmx25dAsA

Akhtar criticized Babar Azam's communication skills
Earlier, during an appearance on a local news channel, the legendary fast bowler criticized Pakistan captain Babar Azam's communication skills. Akhtar explained why Babar has failed to become the biggest brand in Pakistan.
"How awkward it looks when they come to the presentation. Kitna mushkil hai English seekhna aur baat krna? (How difficult is it to learn and speak English?). Cricket is one job, and handling media is another. If you can’t speak, I am sorry, but you won’t be able to express yourself on TV," Akhtar told Suno News.
"I want to openly say that Babar Azam should be the biggest brand in Pakistan, but why hasn't he become the biggest brand in Pakistan? Because he can’t speak," he added.
The 47-year-old faced a lot of criticism from fans and players for his controversial remarks. However, Akhtar also came up with a response, saying
“You have to note these things, my intention was not to belittle Babar… he is a brand face…I want him to look that way. Babar is as big a player as Virat Kohli, if you see Virat’s video…he speaks fluently,” Akhtar said.
Meanwhile, in another show, Akmal also took a dig at Akhtar.
“Jitne Babar ad kar rha hai, utne Shoaib Bhai bhi nhi kar rhe honge.” (The number of advertisement Babar is doing these days, I am sure Shoaib (Akhtar) must not be doing as many." Akmal said.
