The Indian football team is all set to kick start their campaign in the SAFF Championship 2023 when they take on arch-rivals Pakistan at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, June 21. After their recent triumph in the Intercontinental Cup, Sunil Chhetri and Co. will enter the tournament as a confident unit. While Pakistan has lost nine of their last ten matches, the Blue Tigers have lost only one.

Apart from Pakistan, Nepal and Kuwait are the other teams in Group A along with eight-time champions India. Lebanon, Maldives, Bhutan and Bangladesh will compete in Group B. India entered the top 100 rankings in the latest list and will not face much of a challenge against the 195th-ranked Pakistan, but will aim to start the campaign on a high note.

Analyzing other statistics in the last ten matches of both teams, India has scored 15 goals while conceding five. Pakistan, on the other hand, has managed to score seven goals while conceding 18.

Regardless of the sport, the battle between these two neighbours will always be intense, and the same emotions will also be there in today's game. In the 24 matches between the two teams, India has won 11 times compared to Pakistan's three wins. The last time India defeated Pakistan was in the 2018 SAFF Championship when they won 3-1 thanks to a brace from Manvir Singh and a goal from Sumeet Passi.
