Former Indian cricketer and commentator Akash Chopra is always active on social media with match predictions and analysis. With Indian Premier League (IPL) fever is all around the country, Chopra has been uploading videos on his YouTube channel to excite fans with predictions ahead of each game. However, most of his predictions so far have gone wrong and fans have brutally trolled him.

In the 31st match of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) face each other at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, April 22, and Chopra has predicted that the former will win the game as they are more solid than the latter.

“I am going right in favor of Mumbai because the team is looking more solid as compared to Punjab. If you do a match-up between both teams, it seems the scale is heavily tilted towards Mumbai. So Mumbai should win."

Everyone thought Chopra's forecast would be right until the 17th over of the game, but PBKS bowlers tightened the screws in the dying overs to pull off an incredible win. His prediction went wrong as PBKS beat Mumbai by 13 runs to claim their fourth win of the tournament.

In my opinion, Player of the Match was Arshdeep: Chopra

MI were on track to chase down a huge target of 215 runs set by PBKS in the first innings. With well-set Suryakumar Yadav and big-hitter Tim David on the crease, MI camp was relieved when 40 runs were required in the final three overs.

However, Arshdeep, who bowled the 18th over, dismissed SKY for 57 off 26 balls while conceding only nine runs. When 16 runs were needed in the final over, the left-arm bowler kept his cool and took two back-to-back wickets and restricted MI to 201-6.

While reviewing the game, Chopra said that Arshdeep was the real game changer and felt that the left-hander should have been awarded the Player of the Match.

"In my opinion, the Player of the Match was Arshdeep Singh. When it is a high-scoring game, the batters cancel each other out, a lot of runs are scored from both teams and the batters are praised but one bowling spell can change the game for you and Arshdeep Singh did that job," he said.
