T10 is a shortened version of the T20 format, which is considered the shortest format of international cricket. A league is already established in the format by the name ‘Abu Dhabi T10 League’, which is pretty popular. The league has a good number of followers, and a lot of good players take part in the tournament every year since 2017.

A new tournament is coming up in the same format with the name ‘Zim Afro T10 League’, which is supposedly a T10 league with the collaboration of Zimbabwe cricket and T Ten Global Sports. The latter are the organizers of the Abu Dhabi T10 League. The tournament’s inaugural season is set to be played from the 20th to the 29th of July. The league will start with the clash between Harare Hurricanes and Bulawayo Braves.

Popular faces in the tournament

There are a total of five teams in the tournament – Bulawayo Braves, Cape Town Samp Army, Durban Qalandars, Harare Hurricanes, and Johannesburg Buffaloes. The names of these teams represent the cities in Zimbabwe and South Africa. All five teams are owned by different owners. Some of the owners also own different teams in league cricket.

Each team has at least two players as their icon players. There are players who have retired from international cricket. There are also players who are playing cricket currently. Harare Hurricanes have some known names like Eoin Morgan, Mohammad Nabi, Robin Uthappa, Evin Lewis, S Sreesanth, and Irfan Pathan. The Johannesburg Buffaloes have the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Odean Smith, Yusuf Pathan, Tom Banton, Noor Ahmad, Ravi Bopara, and Mohammad Hafeez.

Durban Qalandars features the likes of Mohammad Amir, Tim Siefert, Craig Ervine, and Asif Ali. Cape Town Samp Army have some good names like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Bhanuka Rajapaksha, Shaun Williams, Sheldon Cottrell, Maheesh Theekshana, Parthiv Patel, and Mohammad Irfan. Bulawayo Braves has the likes of Sikandar Raza, Thisara Perera, Tymal Mills, Taskin Ahmed, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ryan Burl, and Ashton Turner.
