India middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav would do anything to remove the memories of the recent ODI series. In the three-match series against Australia, he bagged three consecutive ducks. This is the first time something like this happened to him at the highest level. In the first two games, the right-hander was trapped lbw by Mitchell Starc in an identical manner.

In the last game, he was demoted to number seven in the batting order. However, on the first ball of his innings, he lost his wicket and register his third consecutive golden duck. Surely, Yadav would love to forget this and move on with his career. Meanwhile, in midst of criticism of Yadav's ODI game, India skipper Rohit Sharma has backed his player.

It's unfortunate that Suryakumar Yadav could only play three balls: Rohit Sharma

The India skipper, Sharma doesn't seem to be fazed by SKY's criticism. The former started by saying that Yadav faced only three balls in the series, out of which, two were brilliant deliveries. Sharma referred to the first two LBW dismissals of Yadav against Mitchell Starc. In the last game, Yadav was caught on backfoot when the ball from Ashton Agar stayed low. Meanwhile, Sharma explained why the team held SKY back in the game.

"He only played three balls in three (games) this series. I don't know how much to look into it. He got three good balls, to be honest. Today, it wasn't that good ball; he should have gone forward. He knows best. He plays spin so well. We have seen that over last couple of years. That's why we held him back and give him that role for the last 15-20 overs where he can play his game, but it's really unfortunate he could only play three balls. That can happen to anyone. But the potential and ability is always there. He is just going through that phase right now," said Rohit after the game.
