Sourav Ganguly, the current Indian Cricket Board president will reportedly have to leave the chair, the Indian Express reported on October 12, Tuesday. The former cricketer did not receive the support to continue as the president and is also “unlikely to be the cricket board’s choice for the post of Cricket’s governing body chairman”.

The Indian Express also reported that Roger Binny, who represented India in the 1980s, is all set to become the new president of the board ‘unopposed’. Rajiv Shukla, the vice-president of the Indian cricket board, said Jay Shah will continue as the treasurer while Arun Dhumal will become the new chairman of the Indian T20 League.

“Roger Binny has filed the nomination for the president’s post, myself for the vice-president’s post, Jay Shah for secretary, Ashish Shelar for treasurer and Devajit Saikia has filed the nomination for the joint secretary’s post,” Shukla was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

“Arun Dhumal will head the Indian T20 League governing council. As of now, these are the nominations and all are unopposed,” the current vice president added. As it stands, the era under Ganguly might come to an end very soon and it might be the dawn of something new for team India.

The reports further claimed that Ganguly was offered the post of Indian T20 League chairman which he declined.

“He conveyed that he wasn’t interested, focusing instead on becoming the Cricket’s governing body chairman or continuing as Indian cricket board president,” the Indian Express quoted the sources as saying further.
