After a shocking elimination from the Asia Cup 2023, the Pakistan cricket team returned to the field during the warm-up game of the World Cup 2023. In the first warm-up game, Pakistan faced last time's runner-up, New Zealand, at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The match brought a lot of positivity for Pakistan, as their main batters, skipper Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, scored runs. Babar, in his innings, scored 80 runs off 84 balls with the help of eight fours and a six. On the other hand, Rizwan scored a magnificent century as he hammered 103 runs off 94 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes.

Apart from them, youngster Saud Shakeel also scored a half-century. Shakeel, in his innings, scored 75 runs off 53 balls with the help of five fours and four sixes. It's worth noting that Pakistan's batting was looking unsettled during the Asia Cup, which is currently looking settled and in form. Rizwan and Babar will surely be Pakistan's best batters, and their performances will decide Pakistan's fate in the marquee event.

New Zealand fails to impress with the ball

Playing without skipper Kane Williamson, pacer Tim Southee, and Trent Boult, New Zealand didn't look in form. The Kiwi bowlers struggled to create chances and failed to trouble Pakistani batters. Their sublime performance allowed Pakistani batters to score freely. It's worth noting that for New Zealand, Mitchell Santner clinched two wickets while Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, and Jimmy Neesham took a wicket each.

Meanwhile, hosts India are set to face defending champions England in the warm-up game on September 30 in Guwahati. India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, will look to fine-tune their preparations for the prestigious tournament as they might test their bench strength ahead of the tournament. Indian bench strength is yet to reach its potential, and the practice match will be the best opportunity for them to impress the skipper and coach.
