Ritika Sajdeh posts emotional story after husband Rohit Sharma's heroic knock with 'broken thumb' against Bangladesh

Rohit Sharma led Team India against Bangladesh in the second ODI in what was a must-win game for the visiting team. The Men in Blue suffered a disappointing loss at the hands of the neighbours in Sher-e-Bangla stadium but the Indian captain has come out as the hero.

To preface his heroics shown in the dying embers of the game, one must know that the 35-year-old was injured in the very second over of the match while attempting a catch in the slip. Following the hit, Sharma was taken to hospital for an x-ray but came back hours later with a bandaged thumb.

While Sharma was being treated as a sore thumb, Indian bowlers dominated Bangladesh's top order and then submitted to Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah’s batting prowess. At the end of the first inning, Bangladesh posted a good total of 271 runs on the back of Mahmudullah’s 77 and Hasan’s 100*.

In reply, India failed to pose a serious challenge to Bangladesh and found itself struggling at 65/4. Shreyas Iyer (82) tried his best alongside Axar Patel (56) but could not steer a rocking Indian ship to the shores of victory.

All this went on while Rohit Sharma watched his team bodied by their noisy neighbours. The Indian captain decided it was enough torture for the day when he decided to come out to India’s savings despite a broken thumb in the 46^th over when India’s required run rate slid past 12 runs an over.

His partner Mohammed Siraj swung his bat with all his might but could not make contact. Sharma took it upon himself to bring India out of its misery and hit painful shots out of the boundary line.

With 3 fours and 5 sixes, Sharma was able to hit 51 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 182.14. Despite his valiant innings, however, it wasn’t enough for India to cross the finish line and they failed by 5 runs.

Rohit Sharma however is being hailed as a hero by all, including his wife Ritika Sajdeh who made a beautiful post acknowledging his courageous effort. Her Instagram story showed a picture of Rohit Sharma with the caption, "I love you and I'm so proud of the man you are. To go out like that and do that."
