Rishabh Pant undergoes plastic surgery for a cut on his forehead, confirms DDCA director

DDCA director provides big update on Rishabh Pant's health. Pant had met with a horrific car accident on 30th December 2022.

In a sudden twist of fate, Rishabh Pant suffered a near-fatal car accident when he was travelling from Delhi to Uttarakhand. The car hit the divider and then caught fire. The incident happened at 5:30 AM. As per the police when Pant’s car came in contact with the divider and then toppled over before the vehicle tripped over. Pant was driving to his hometown Roorkee in Uttarakhand from Delhi.

Now he has undergone plastic surgery on his forehead to rectify the damage and is answering well to the treatment. The left-handed batter has suffered injuries after his car crashed into a divider in Roorkee on the Delhi Dehradun highway.

“(Pant) is in high spirits and responding well to treatment… He underwent plastic surgery on his left eyebrow where he suffered a cut in the accident. A 3-member DDCA team is reaching Dehradun in an hour. BCCI is constantly in touch with the doctors at Max Hospital and with Pant’s family. He is currently stable and out of danger. We are yet to decide whether he needs to be shifted to Delhi or not,” said DDCA director Shyam Sharma.

“Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment,” the statement from the Indian Cricket Board added.

“The Indian Cricket Board is in constant touch with Rishabh’s family while the Medical Team is in close contact with the doctors currently treating Rishabh. The Board will see to it that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase.”

Pant was to report to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the four-match India-Australia series. He was to meet the strength and conditioning coach before the all-important Test series against Australia. He has been India’s most consistent batter in Test Cricket for India having scored hundreds in England and Australia.
