Sunil Chhetri is one of the greatest, if not, the greatest ever football players to have graced the Indian jersey. The legendary player is known for his speed and agility on the field. He is more known for his modesty off the field and fans always opine that he’s not being celebrated as much as he must.

The Indian star will now don one more feather on his cap as his team lifted the Durand Cup 2022. Bengaluru FC faced Mumbai City FC in the finals and clinched the win with a score line of 2-1 in the summit match. The Sunil Chhetri-led team have now won I-League, Federation Cup, Super Cup, The Indian Super League title and the Durant Cup.

However, what caught the eyes of fans was the act of governor La Ganesan. As one could understand, the honourable governor was standing next to the Indian star during the trophy presentation. Albeit he was visible, he pushed Sunil Chhetri and came to the front while posing for the photo.

Here’s the video:

Sunil Chhetri-led men clinch the title

Sunil Chhetri and his men clinched the title after a hard-fought tournament. The finals between Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City FC turned out to be a cracker as the match was equally poised. N. Sivashakti provided the initial lead for the team and ensured that the Bengaluru FC team proved their dominance.

However, the Mumbai brigade bounced back and matched the lead at the stroke of the half-hour mark. It turned out to be a crucial one for the Mumbai team who were desperate to get back at Bengaluru FC. Post the first half, the Sunil Chhetri-led team bounced back to clinch yet another goal in the second half.

Bengaluru FC took the lead in the second half and seldom lost possession since then. Albeit they had one more chance in the second half to make it 3-1, the Bengaluru team missed it and remained at 2-1. This title proved that one can never write off Bengaluru FC.

Let’s take a look at tweets where people opined on the act of the honourable governor:
