Tamil Nadu batsman, Narayan Jagadeesan has been turning heads with his scintillating batting in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. On Monday, he surpassed the legendary batter Kumar Sangakkara to score the most consecutive centuries in the history of List A cricket.
The Indian batter reached the feat after scoring a ton against Arunachal Pradesh at the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy. He brought up his fifth consecutive hundred in the tournament and finished his innings at 277 off 141 balls, including 25 fours and 15 sixes. With five consecutive centuries, he has surpassed the likes of Virat Kohli, Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and
Devdutt Padikkal. All of them have four consecutive tons each in the tournament. The Tamil Nadu batter is currently the highest run-scorer in the tournament, having managed 799 runs in 6 games at an average of 159.
On Monday, he brought up his century in just 77 balls and went on to score 200 in just 114 balls. With that, he became the fastest Indian to score a double-century in the history of List A cricket and second fastest in the world.
Besides, he is now also the sixth batter to notch a double century in Vijay Hazare Trophy and also has the highest-ever individual score in the tournament’s history. Jagadeesan’s tons couldn’t have come at a better time as the Chennai franchise released him ahead of the mini-auction, which is slated to take place on 22nd December 2022. Notably, he was bought by the franchise for INR 20 lakhs for the 2022 Indian T20 League auction.
He played two matches last season and scored 40 runs at a strike rate of 108.11. Keeping in mind his stellar form with the bat, he is likely to fetch a big contract at the auction. Twitter has been abuzz following the Tamil Nadu batter’s heroics. Here’s a look at some of the reactions:

N Jagadeesan should be on flight✈️ to New Zealand today evening... He is definitely earning big bucks 💰 in upcoming IPL Auction... Big loss of CSK not retaing him ... #jagadeesan #VijayHazareTrophy2022

#Jagadeesan is still only 26 years old! He can have a good few years in the middle for #TeamIndia in T20 and ODIs. It is indeed a shame that #CSK just did not trust enough to give him a run. #Tamilnadu #VijayHazareTrophy2022
