Superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with Manchester United looks bleak following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan came out in public. In the interview, Ronaldo slammed the coach Erik ten Hag and hit out at the club owners as well. Manchester United, as a result of that, are now are exploring the possibility of terminating Ronaldo’s contract.

Amidst this, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes approached Real Madrid but the latter turned down the opportunity to re-sign the star footballer in the January transfer window. As per reports, Real Madrid have stuck to their stance of not bringing Ronaldo back into the mix.

Madrid have suffered this season due to Karim Benzema’s injury but the club has expressed confidence in his abilities and will stick with him for at least the next two seasons.

Meanwhile, Roma’s general manager Tiago Pinto has quashed all the reports of bringing Ronaldo into the Italian club.

‘One of the things that annoys me a bit in Italy is that we always talk about the transfer market,’ Pinto said.

‘We talk every day about it, here in Portugal we are better off because we only talk when the market opens, but the truth is that Cristiano has never been a possibility.

‘These rumours have never had any basis, but in Italy we talk about three different players every day, it is perhaps normal to link the pieces together because Mourinho and I are Portuguese and Ronaldo is Portuguese, but this, I repeat, has never had any basis.’

Cristiano Ronaldo will be leading the Portugal team in the FIFA World Cup 2022. The 37-year-old, meanwhile, has said the recent controversy with Manchester United will not have an adverse effect on Portugal for the big event in Qatar. Under his leadership, Portugal will be aiming to win the tournament for the first time in its history.
