Nicholas Pooran of MI New York played one of the greatest T20 innings and helped his team to win the maiden title of the Major Cricket League. The 27-year-old scored an unbeaten 137*(55) and almost singlehandedly won the match for New York. The knock of the Trinidad-born batter consisted of 10 fours and 13 massive sixes.

Opting to bowl first on a good batting track in Dallas, New York restricted Seattle Orcas to a total of 183 runs. Quinton De Kock’s 87(52) helped Orcas to score a respectable total. The Southpaw was helped by the cameos of Shubham Ranjane and Dwaine Pretorius. For MI New York, Rashid Khan and Trent Boult were exceptional with the ball, as they claimed 3 wickets each.

Chasing the target of 184, MI were soon in trouble in the very first over, as they lost Steven Taylor in the third ball of the match. What followed was an absolute carnage from Pooran. The Southpaw hit the bowlers from the word go. In the Powerplay overs itself, MI scored a whopping 80 runs, out of which, Pooran had scored 69(22) by himself. In the second over of the match, Pooran hit 28 runs off Pretorius.

The MI New York captain never stopped his aggression in the innings. Pooran got to his fifty in just 16 deliveries, which was the fastest fifty of the season. In his innings, Pooran hit some monstrous sixes all over the park. Especially in the V region, Pooran was very strong. The West Indian batter played only 19 dot balls in his innings.

The second fifty of Pooran came in 24 balls. Pooran’s hundred in 40 balls is one of the fastest in the history of finals of all T20s. It looked almost impossible to stop Pooran during his stay in the middle. Orcas' bowlers tried everything but could not stop the storm. Eventually, the smiling assassin won the match for his team with 4 overs to spare, as MI New York became the champions of the season.
