After losing the last match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by a huge deficit of 81 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M. Chinnaswammy Stadium in Bangalore. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper, KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first.

The RCB openers, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli started off the innings very well. Both the batters together put on a partnership of 96 runs in 69 balls before the former Men in Blue skipper was dismissed by India veteran leg-spinner, Amit Mishra. Before going back to the pavilion, Kohli scored 61 runs off 44 balls with four fours and four sixes.

RCB skipper Du Plessis slammed a monstrous six on the fourth ball of the 14 over which was bowled by leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. The ball was dropped short, and the former South Africa skipper smashed it for a marvellous six of 115 metres.

Felt better, haven't really done it for five months: Glenn Maxwell

After the 34-year-old's wicket, star Australia all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell came into crease. He along with the skipper built up a partnership of 115 runs before Maxwell was sent back to the pavilion by Mark Wood. Before going back to the dressing room, the off-spinner scored 59 runs from 29 balls he played. His innings included six brilliant sixes and three fours. Du Plessis played an unbeaten knock of 79 runs off 46 balls which included five fours and five sixes.

"Felt better, haven't really done it for five months. Nice to get some match rhythm. To do it front of the home fans is special. I am certainly over the rehab, it's a tiring routine that I've to go through. Hopefully I'll be back to full fitness in a couple of months. This is a nice and big step forward. There was a bit of variable bounce. The balls were keeping low from a back of a length. It's drier than the other night. Bishnoi and Krunal bowled extremely well in the first few overs. They kept us back after an electric powerplay. We have to be really good with our lengths and hopefully, we can continue to hit the top of the stumps. I got one over in the first game which was exciting, it'll be nice to get to the bowling crease and then run around the outfield a bit," Maxwell was quoted as saying in the mid-innings interview.
