Ahead of the start of the 2023 edition of the Indian T20 League, Ravichandran Ashwin has predicted Hyderabad’s strongest playing XI for the tournament. Mayank Agarwal was Hyderabad’s one of the notable acquisitions at the mini-auction. Ashwin feels that Agarwal will open the innings for the team and left-handed batter Abhishek Sharma will be his partner.
Rahul Tripathi, who has been a prolific run-scorer in the cash-rich league, takes the number three spot in Ashwin’s playing XI. The middle order comprises the likes of two strong overseas batters in Aiden Markram and Harry Brook.
The latter has been in outstanding form with the bat and is one of the players to watch out for in the competition. The Indian off-spinner also feels that the likes of Klaasen and Glenn Phillips can also play the role of the finisher.
Ashwin reckoned the Washington Sundar’s presence will add added depth to the batting unit. As for the bowling attack, Bhuvneshwar Kamar leads the pace department, which also comprises the likes of Umran Malik and T Natarajan. Besides, England spinner, Adil Rashid will lead the spin department, feels Ashwin.
Here’s a look at Ashwin’s playing XI:

The Hyderabad franchise is yet to name their skipper for the upcoming edition of the tournament. They have released Kane Williamson from the current squad. The New Zealand player will be seen playing for Gujarat in the coming season.
As per reports, Mayank Agarwal is the front-runner to lead the franchise this year. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the veteran pacer, is also a contender for the captaincy. Hyderabad had a forgettable season last year as they finished third from the bottom of the table, managing only 6 wins in 14 matches.
