India went head-to-head against Bangladesh in their fourth match of the 20-20 World Cup on Wednesday. Bangladesh captain Shakib-al-Hasan won the toss and invited India to bat first at the Adelaide Oval. The struggling Indian opening duo of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul walked out to the middle to give their side a blistering start to their innings.

Rohit Sharma struggled with the bat early on and lost his wicket after scoring 2 off 8 balls. However, KL Rahul looked determined to score big amid wild uproar all over the country to drop him from the eleven. Rahul played the first over against Taskin Ahmed cautiously as he scored just 1 run off 5 balls. With the pressure building on the opener, Rahul smashed a massive six against Shoriful Islam in the second over to get his innings going.

He further smashed another four and a six on consecutive deliveries against Hasan Mahmud to get himself in the groove. The star batter unleashed his beast mode on Shoriful Islam once again as he completely ripped him apart in his second over.

Rahul brought up his fifty off 31 balls

Rahul smashed consecutive sixes and a boundary in three deliveries to quickly move to 48 off 30 balls after his slow start to the innings. He finally brought up his first half-century of the tournament as he scored a double on the first ball of the ninth over bowled by Shakib-al-Hasan. However, the opener couldn’t take his innings forward and got dismissed on the very next ball getting caught at  short fine leg.

He walked back to the pavilion after scoring 50 off 32 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes in his innings. Rahul’s fifty must’ve helped him a lot to gain his confidence back as he failed to reach a double-digit score in the first three matches of the tournament. The team management will expect the star batter to go big in upcoming matches and release the pressure on the middle order. Twitter was abuzz as soon as Rahul completed his half-century. Here are some of the best Tweets on his innings:
