India beat Bangladesh by three wickets and sealed a 2-0 series win over the hosts in Dhaka. Ravichandran Ashwin was at the forefront of the thriller that unfolded at Dhaka. His all-around brilliance yet again came to the fore as he picked up six scalps with the ball and also played a marvellous knock of unbeaten 42 to take India over the finishing line in the fourth innings. He got a big reprieve off Mehidy Hasan in the 34th over where he was dropped at short leg by Mominul Haque.

After India’s nail-biting win, a Sri Lankan journalist reminded him of the dropped catch and took a jibe at Ashwin on Twitter. He wrote, "You should have handed this to Mominul Haque, Who dropped that dolly.. had he bagged it, India all out for 89 for sure... @ashwinravi99". Ashwin hit back with a sharp reply saying, "Oh no ! I thought I blocked you, oh sorry that’s the other guy. what’s his name?? Yes Daniel Alexander that’s the name !! Imagine what you both would do if India didn't play cricket".

Ashwin and Iyer put together a 71-run stand for the eighth wicket

India were in a spot of bother at 74/7 when Ashwin joined Shreyas Iyer at the crease. They were the last recognised pair and needed something special to bail India out and that was what transpired. Ashwin and Iyer put together India’s highest stand for the eighth wicket in Tests which was 71. The right-hander's knock of 42 off 62 balls consisted of four fours and one six.

Iyer also complimented him well with 29 off 46 balls with four fours. He rallied with Ashwin and struck it out there with a gutsy knock under pressure when India needed it most. India have a very important Test assignment against Australia comprising four tests when they take on Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

This series win keeps India’s hopes of getting to the World Test Championship final alive. There will now be a three-way tussle between Australia, South Africa and India to make it to the finals.
