England toured Pakistan for a historic Test series after 17 years. And the Three Lions have virtually made the series their own as they are on course to a 3-0 clean sweep at Karachi. On the Pakistan front, however, all is not well as Babar Azam declined to take the field in the form of a protest. Babar was not present for the first hour of play on Day 2.

It was first deduced that the reason behind Babar’s absence was because of a splitting headache, reports came out later saying that Babar had an ugly row with the security personnel before going out to dinner the previous night and then decided to stay in the changeroom.

We need to ensure that this does not happen - Rashid Latif

Rashid Latif the former Pakistan skipper talked about the event in detail for a local news channel. "Questions will obviously be asked. The reason was not given. Whoever is at fault, chairman Ramiz Raja should look into it. Someone new has been deputed in Karachi but he has to be made aware that they are here to look after the team and its players and not to trouble them. He is the captain of Pakistan team after all. This should have been looked into and I think as a protest, Babar Azam refused to step into the ground. I mean, the Pakistan cricket captain is protesting against his own board for his own security. We need to ensure this doesn't happen," The former Pakistan captain said on a show.

He went on to say that Pakistan Cricket does not need such unfortunate incidents at present and happenings such as this do not bode well for the reputation of the Pakistan Cricket Board. He also called on PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja to investigate the matter. He also said it is bad news for Babar and PCB if they are not on good terms with each other.

Babar has been under pressure as captain. His decisions and his personality as captain have been questioned. He had had a rough time as Pakistan failed to win the 20-20 World Cup. They lost a seven-match T20 series to England 4-3 recently and are on the brink of losing the Test series 3-0.
