Argentina superhero Lionel Messi has hailed his Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe for his extraordinary performance at the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar. Messi, who dreamed of lifting the coveted title for so long, won it last year after a tough battle from France. The encounter was decided via penalties as both teams were tied 3-all after 120 minutes. It was a one-man show for the 24-year-old French forward who scored 3 goals and came close to winning the World Cup for the second time.
Argentina skipper Messi, who said winning a WC for his country was his lifelong dream, shared his thoughts on the final against France and his PSG team-mate.
''It really was a breathtaking final and it was crazy how the match went as Kylian performance was great too. Scoring three goals in a final and not being able to be a champion was something crazy. But he won it before and he knows what it is to be a World Cup winner. Now it’s nice to be able to play in the same team and hopefully we can achieve big things in Paris as well”, Messi said.

When asked what winning the World Cup means to him personally, Messi said:
“It was incredible. Everything that I went through was amazing. It is very difficult to explain it because it is a lifelong dream that we were able to make come true and share with the people of Argentina, the way they celebrated... We expected it to be crazy but not that crazy. For those of us who were lucky enough to play, it’s a moment that will stay with us for the rest of our lives, as well as for the people of Argentina."
Messi's next goal is to win Champions League for PSG
PSG's main goal now is to win the Champions League, which they will have to do the hard way by coming behind to win in Germany on Wednesday. It will be a difficult task for Messi and Co as it has been confirmed that their star player Neymar will miss the rest of the season due to surgery on his right ankle.
When asked about his new club, the former Barca player said: “My whole life has been like this. Dedication, hard work, effort and wanting more and more every day. I had to come to a new club and the excitement of being able to win trophies with PSG, to be able to achieve the ambitious goals that we set for ourselves”.
