Pakistan have not found a formula to break through England’s aggressive 'Bazball' tactics in Test cricket as they lost yet another Test in Multan by 26 runs giving England a historic Test series win after 17 years. Babar Azam has come under pressure for his approach and tactical planning in Test matches and because he has failed to deliver results.
Speaking after the match, Salman Butt has said that Babar Azam is very scared of expressing his opinions and that he has gone into a shell. He also claimed that the Pakistan skipper will not make any comments that would get him into trouble with people.
"What's the use of such press conferences where the person is only bothered about not hurting anybody with his comments? Don't you have your own opinions on anything? What is the use of all the big world titles when you are too scared to express your opinions? This is not leadership." Butt said on his YouTube channel.
Leadership does not come with experience - Salman Butt
Babar has had a good Test series with the bat but he has been inconsistent as he scored 75 runs in the 1st innings of the Multan Test, but he failed in the second innings and scored just 1 run. He was also asked a question in the press conference which stumped him as to whether he should focus only on T20s.
The former Pakistan captain went on to say that leadership does not necessarily get better with time. Citing the example of Ben Stokes, he said that The England captain has won 8 out of the 9 Tests in which he has captained.
"Leadership doesn't come with experience. Many players have been captains since their first match itself. Ben Stokes has captained just nine matches and won eight of them. Only in Pakistan do we say that the skipper will learn with time. Professionalism is lacking completely."
England are showing the way forward in Test cricket with Bazball as they are able to play an aggressive brand of cricket with the ability to get results even in the hardest of conditions. This mantra has revitalised England’s approach in Test cricket.
