Australia will face off against India in a four-match Test series set to get underway on February 9 and it remains to be seen if the Indian team would retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy. Ahead of the series, Glenn Maxwell, who will be out of the series due to an injury, claimed that not being a part of the series will ‘nag ‘ him for the rest of his life.
That being said, Maxwell said while commentating for a Big Bash League 2022/23 (BBL 12) that missing out on the Tests against Rohit Sharma and his men would nag him while he agreed that it might give opportunities to his other teammates in what can be called the second-best series for the Baggy Greens after the Ashes.
“Probably will nag at me for the rest of my life. It’s nice getting the opportunity to watch your teammates play, especially over there. I think they’ve got the squad that’s probably as good as I’ve seen go over to India since I’ve been watching Tests over there, anyway,” Maxwell was quoted as saying during a BBL game commentary.
Glenn Maxwell may be available: David Hussey
Former Australian cricketer and head coach of the Melbourne Stars team, David Hussey, said that the allrounder might not be back to BBL, although the Stars are out of the contest. Hussey claimed earlier that Maxwell might make a comeback to cricket by the end of this month and one could predict that the Australian is still days away from regaining full strength.
“He’s not going to make it by the end of the BBL, unfortunately. But he’s very diligent in his return to play with his rehab. He’s been down to the St Kilda Football Club a bit and has been at the Junction Oval with Cricket Victoria,” Hussey was quoted as saying to SEN earlier.
“I dare say towards the end of January, he may be available or hitting some cricket balls to try and get back to play some state cricket and Shield cricket to hopefully get on that plane for the One-Day tour of India for Australia,” said the former Australian cricketer further.
