England created history on Pakistan soil as they registered only their third victory in Pakistan after they beat Pakistan by 74 runs on a pitch that looked like a freshly tarred road at Rawalpindi. Ben Stokes took a big decision on Day 4 and declared to set Pakistan a target of 343. Ollie Robbinson was the Player of the Match.
Ahead of the second Test match which is scheduled to take place at Multan on Friday. Pakistan were dealt with another jolt as their premier fast bowler Haris Rauf was ruled out of the Test series against England after picking up a quadricep strain.
Rauf suffered the injury on Day 1 of the first Test match which was held in Rawalpindi when he rolled over the ball. England had a wonderful beginning to the Test match series after winning a closely fought T20I series 4-3 a few months back in Pakistan under the captaincy of Moeen Ali.
He will begin his rehab at Lahore-Pakistan Cricket Board
"Haris will travel to Lahore where he will begin his rehabilitation at the National High Performance Centre," said the Pakistan Cricket Board in a statement. The fans in Pakistan were treated to a spectacle in the first Test match after a result was possible only after the post-tea session.
Rauf was Pakistan's bright spot and lead bowler in the 20-20 World Cup which was held in Australia. In 13 matches in the tournament, he picked up 16 wickets at an average of 21.62 and a strike rate of 18.3. He had a fantastic economy rate of 7.06. His best bowling figures in the World event where he picked up 4-22.
England under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum have reinvented test cricket just like how they did to white ball cricket after the ghosts of the 2015 World Cup. They have won all their tests under the new captain-coach duo who have embraced and adopted Bazball to their advantage and have found ways to win from the most difficult situations.
