Rohit Sharma has always been surrounded by criticism over his fitness, which many point to as the reason for his frequent injuries and poor performances. The Indian captain has not been in his best form in recent times and that continues for him in the ongoing Indian T20 League as well. Mumbai started their ITL 2023 campaign with an eight-wicket defeat against Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday, April 2, as a result of a miserable performance by both their batters and bowlers.

After enduring a tough phase in the last ITL season, fans were hoping that the five-time champions would start the new season on a winning note. But it was a total disappointment for Mumbai fans as their team collapsed against Bangalore and also their beloved 'Hitman' failed to make any impact in the game. Batting first, everyone expected Rohit and Ishan Kishan to get their team off to a bright start but both failed to play responsibly and same was the case with other batters except Tilak Varma.

Rohit failed as a batter and captain against Bangalore

Rohit remained at the crease until the sixth over, but the right-hander struggled completely against Bangalore's pace attack and was dismissed for 1 off 10 balls. This time again, the fans did not leave the Mumbai skipper, blaming his fitness for the poor performance.

Meanwhile, a picture of Rohit from yesterday's match is doing the rounds on social media, where he looked completely out of shape while attempting a pull shot, defining his poor fitness. The image did not go down well with the fans, leading them to criticize him and suggest that he should work on fitness to remain in the Indian cricket team.

While all the batters failed to put up any resistance at the crease, it was youngster Verma who single-handedly fought his way to get a respectable score of 171. While defending an average score, fans believed that Rohit's captaincy prowess would do magic on the field. But nothing went right for the 35-year-old as Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis helped Bangalore chase down the target comfortably.

Here's how fans reacted to Rohit Sharma's fitness:
