As India and Australia are set to face each other in the final Test of the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flip the coin tomorrow (March 9) at the toss in Ahmedabad, according to reports. India currently leads the four-match series 2-1 but needs to win the fourth Test to clinch the series and book a berth in the upcoming World Test Championship final. Meanwhile, Australia, who thrashed the hosts in Indore and booked their ticket to the Oval, will look to dominate again in Ahmedabad and level the series.

It was earlier confirmed that Narendra Modi will attend the Day 1 of the final Test match along with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The Australian PM, who is on an official visit to India from March 8 to 11, will be present at the Narendra Modi Stadium to watch the thrilling contest between the two cricketing powerhouses.

Ahmedabad Test is crucial for Rohit and Co

India, who retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time in a row, were expected to whitewash the series after comprehensive victories over the Aussies in Nagpur and Delhi. But the Indian batting line-up faced a challenging contest against Australia's spin attack and lost the match by 9 wickets. However, Rohit Sharma's side will aim to clinch the series 3-1 in the Ahmedabad Test and face the Kangaroos again in June at London's Oval in the World Test Championship final. Failing to win the fourth Test, India will have to depend on the results of the Test series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand to advance to the WTC final.

India's senior pacer Mohammed Shami is likely to be in the playing 11 for the final Test. The veteran fast bowler was rested in the Indore Test and India will certainly need his services as reverse swing may play a key role on the Ahmedabad pitch. Meanwhile, Mohammad Siraj might miss the next match as the right-arm pacer is likely to be rested.
