Star Indian batter KL Rahul is set to return to the Indian side for the Asia Cup 2023, Rahul was out of the squad after sustaining a thigh injury in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The Indian team is not able to perform at full strength with a big list of injured players like Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul, Prasidh Krishna, and Shreyas Iyer, but now, with Bumrah leading the side in the Ireland tour and the 34-year-old India batter's fruitful recovery news, Rohit Sharma and co. will be delighted.
Whereas, as per reports by the Times of India, Rahul is completely fit and available for selection and could be up for selection in the Asia Cup 2023. Whereas the continental championship will begin from August 30 to September 13 and will be jointly hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Apparently, the Indian side will play their games in the Island nation, while the most anticipated clash will be played on September 2 at Pallekele.
KL Rahul begins wicketkeeping practice
However, Iyer got injured during the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 and is still likely to be unavailable for this edition of the Asia Cup. Iyer is still recovering from a back injury and was one of the important batters for the Indian side in the middle order. It is pertinent to mention that KL Rahul shared a video on social media where he can be seen batting and practising wicketkeeping at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) also gave an update recently that the star India wicketkeeper has resumed batting in nets and is undergoing fitness drills under proper supervision.
Men in Blue is trying hard to find Iyer's replacement in all formats of the game. Bumrah's return to the squad, along with Rahul's, will surely ease some problems for the Asian Giants considering the ODI World Cup 2023. In the end, Hardik Pandya-led side is currently playing five games of the T20I series against West Indies. So far, the team on the Caribbean tour of India has won the Test and ODI series, but they lost the first 20-over format game.
Here is the fans' reaction as KL Rahul is likely to feature in Asia Cup 2023:

Great news! Looking forward to seeing KL Rahul shine in the Asia Cup 2023. He's a talented player who deserves this opportunity. Give it your best shot, KL! 🏏🔥 #TeamIndia

KL Rahul at 5 provides stability. Feel Sanju should be backed at No.4 & Hardik at No.6 with Surya as backup middle order player in the squad.
— Advaitya Chandhoke (@AdvaityaC) August 4, 2023
If KL Rahul isn't fit to do WK then Sanju Samson can do WK which will allow team to also have Kishan purely as a backup opener (+WK).
Advantage rohit sharma and india
