In the 26th match of the Hundred 2022, Northern Superchargers defeated Welsh Fire by six wickets to keep their playoffs hopes alive. The Welsh Fire were handed their seventh straight defeat of the season. They haven't been able to win a single match this time around and stand at the bottom of the points table. On the other hand, the Superchargers are in sixth place, with three wins in seven games.

When the Fire batted first, they got off to a very conservative start, with Joe Clarke (14) and Tom Banton (6) doing little. The two could not do much and were dismissed for a team score of 29 runs in 34 balls. Ben Duckett, however, partially turned the tide for the batting team. While a few more wickets fell at the other end, he played a fantastic innings.

The English player completed his half-century and was supported well by Leus du Plooy, who played a short cameo. The two batters remained not out in the game on the scores of 64 and 21, respectively. The two contributed to the team scoring 114 runs in the first innings. For the Superchargers, Craig Miles took two wickets in the match, while Adil Rashid and David Wiese took one each.

Faf du Plessis gave his team a strong start in the chase as he appeared to be somewhat back in form. Adam Lyth was also at the top of his game while opening the innings along with the skipper. The two put up a brilliant partnership of 75 runs in 53 runs to set the tone of the chase. Ish Sodhi finally got the breakthrough wicket of Lyth (47) on the 53rd ball. Du Plessis (32) also departed soon after that.

The Superchargers no longer required a strong performance because they had already come close to their target. Although they lost a few more wickets, Harry Brook (8) and David Willey (5) remained unbeaten to help the Superchargers win with nine balls remaining.
