Suresh Raina was a stalwart for India in the white ball format. He scored 1605 runs in the T20I format for India. He scored those runs at an average of 29.18 and a strike rate of 134.87. His best innings came in the 20-20 World Cup 2010 against South Africa where he scored a 101.

Raina, recently, announced his retirement from the Indian T20 League which opened up opportunities for him elsewhere. He took part in the Road Safety World Series earlier this year and played for India Legends, who went on to lift their second title in a row.

The 35-year-old then signed up with the Deccan Gladiators at the Indian T20 League. This year's edition of the T10 started yesterday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. He was caught at long off while trying to smash wrist spinner Peter Hatzaglou on just the second ball of his innings.

However, his team ended up on the winning side due to the heroics of his captain Nicholas Pooran, who played a blazing knock of 77 off 33 balls, including five fours and eight sixes.

The Deccan Gladiators made a blistering score of 134/6. The bowlers then came to the party and kept the Abu Dhabi side down for just 99-6 in their 10 overs giving the Deccan side a 35-run win.

Raina has been a legend in the Indian T20 League for the Chennai franchise. He has scored 5528 runs in 205 matches in the biggest league across T20 circles. He has been a legend in Chennai and is fondly called as Chinna Thala. The fans from Chennai were teary eyed when he announced his retirement from International cricket.

There have been a lot of faces from India who will be playing in the Abu Dhabi T20 League such as Stuart Binny, Harbhajan Singh, Abhimanyu Mithun and S Sreesanth. This is Raina's second tournament after playing the Road Safety World Series.Β
