Carlos Alcaraz has created history by becoming the first athlete to win a title at Wimbledon since 2002 barring the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray. The 20-year-old was up against the World No 2 Novak Djokovic, who had not lost a game in Wimbledon since 2018.
The Spaniard overcame the Serbian in a thrilling battle that lasted for 4 hours and 42 minutes. Alcaraz became only the third Spaniard to win a Wimbledon title after Manuel Santana and Rafael Nadal. As a result, Carlos won his second Grand Slam title, the first one in Wimbledon against a legend like Novak Djokovic.
Alcaraz was exceptional in the game. The youngster was super quick in his serves. He hit some aces and returned very well. The Spaniard made good use of the crowd support and often put pressure on Novak, which committed unforced errors from the Serbian. Alcaraz was terrific in drop shots and Novak had no answer to it.
The emergence of a new champion
The first set was wrapped up easily by Novak in about 34 minutes. But Carlos came back roaring in the second set, as he won the tiebreaker against Novak, which was an incredible feat in itself. In the third set, a game lasted for 26 minutes including 13 deuces, which was sensational to watch. Surprisingly, Djokovic looked tired in the early stage of the match.
Djokovic took a break of over 6 and a half minutes after the third set. The 7-time Wimbledon champion came back and won the fourth set against the young sensation. In the fifth set, Garfia showed his beast form. The Serbian could do nothing but appreciate the greatness in the making. There were so many unforced errors by Djokovic throughout the match.
Alcaraz eventually overcame the beast in a 5-set thriller with a scoreline of 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. It took an exceptional effort from the youngster to overcome someone who had not witnessed a loss in the Centre court for a long time.

It was experience vs raw talent, tenacity vs grit, past vs future.
A poignant reminder - in the theater of life, it's not the years that matter, but the mileage you're willing to put in.
Djokovic is still GOAT
