Shivam Mavi raked in the moolah in the Indian T20 League auction by making a big sum of 6 Crore INR to the Gujarat franchise. With that, he has become the most expensive uncapped Indian player at the auction. Gujarat were looking for a replacement fast bowler after having traded Lockie Ferguson to the Kolkata franchise.

They were interested in getting an Indian fast bowler and Mavi turned out to be their man. Chennai and Kolkata showed interest in him at first and then there was an intense bidding war for him between Gujarat and Rajasthan with Gujarat getting him in the end.

Mavi joins a very healthy Gujarat pace-attack consisting of Mohammed Shami, Yash Dayal, Alzarri Joseph and Pradeep Sangwan. He will add more variety to the attack and give some runs with the bat for his franchise. He has also played in the Indian T20 League.

Right after the 2018 Under 19 World Cup, he was picked up by the Kolkata franchise. From 2018 to 2022, he has picked up 30 wickets for Kolkata. With the Gujarat side, he can become a better bowler under the mentorship of someone like Mohammed Shami.

Mavi was 2018 U19 World-Cup star for India

Mavi shot to fame in the 2018 under-19 World Cup where he was a part of the victorious Indian campaign in Australia alongside the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. He caught the eyes of people as he could bowl with speeds of 140 kmph and also was a handy batter down the order.

He can use his stint with the Gujarat side to get into the Indian Team. Kuldeep Sen made his debut for India against Bangladesh in the ODI series. Yash Dayal, whom Mavi will join at Gujarat, was in line for an Indian Test debut but could not make his maiden appearance as he was injured.

Mavi is one of those express fast bowlers and also someone who can bat in the lower order. A good season with the Gujarat side could catapult him into the India colours where he could stay with the national side and kickstart his international career.
