All the hopes of the Indian fans watching their team reach the final of the 20-20 World Cup came crashing down after England registered a 10-wicket win over India on November 10, Thursday, at the Adelaide Oval Cricket Ground. Jos Buttler won the toss and asked India to bat first and Indian openers, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, who were watchful at the start, struggled to get going.
After hitting a boundary, Rahul, once again, departed cheaply in a big game and the skipper, who was out of form right throughout the showpiece event, didn’t make any useful contribution either as he struggled during his 28-ball stay at the crease. Fans were joyous to see Suryakumar Yadav start his innings with a four and a six and however, he too couldn’t stay for too long either, as a result of which, India lost three wickets for 75 runs on the board.
Kohli, who then joined hands with Hardik Pandya, rescued the ship with a 61-run stand. India needed a solid finish and it came off the bat of the Indian all-rounder as Pandya scored a flurry of boundaries in the final few overs and helped the team reach a competitive score of 168 runs in the first innings.
Pakistan PM's sly dig on team India
Pandya played a sensational knock of 63 runs in just 33 balls. However, it didn’t prove enough as England chased down the target in just 16 overs as Jos Buttler and Alex Hales produced one of the best opening partnerships in the history of the World Cups.
The duo notched 170 runs in just 16 overs to help England register a 10-wicket win and, thereby, reach the finals. Following India’s defeat, Pakistan’s prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif took to Twitter to take a dig at Rohit Sharma’s team. You can see the tweet here:

🇵🇰 🇬🇧 #T20WorldCup
With England and Pakistan all set to lock horns with each other in the final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday, he reminded fans of India’s similar kind of defeat at the hands of Pakistan at the 20-20 World Cup last year. The Three Lions will hope to carry on with the momentum and silence the Pakistani crowd in the summit clash. While the Men in Green, after watching England's wrath in the semis, would look to play a safe game and clinch the title after 13 years.
