Zimbabwe continue to impress each and everyone with their outstanding performances in the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Craig Ervine and Co. registered an unbelievable 1-run win over Pakistan on Thursday and put their campaign in complete disarray.

Perhaps, no one would have believed that Pakistan would lose the game after having restricted Zimbabwe to just 130 runs in the innings. However, they looked timid with the bat. Their biggest bets, Babar Azam and M Rizwan both got out cheaply inside the power play.

Thanks to stellar bowling performances from Brad Evan and Blessing Muzarabani, Pakistan could only manage to score 28 runs and lost both the openers by the end of the first six overs. Luke Jongwe came on to bowl the 8th over and gifted Zimbabwe the big wicket of Iftikhar Ahmed (5), leaving the Men in Green in all sorts of trouble at 36 for 3.

However, Shadab Khan and Shan Masood showed great nerves and put on a 52-run partnership for the fourth wicket. They were going at pretty good scoring rate but just when it looked like Pakistan would reach home comfortably, the tables turned.

Zimbabwe’s main man, Sikandar Raza came to the team’s rescue as he picked the wickets of Haider Ali (0) and Shadab Khan (17) in consecutive deliveries. He then took the wicket of Shan Masood in his next over to bring his team back into the game.

From 88 for 3, Pakistan slipped to 94 for 6 in the space of just 3 overs. M Nawaz and Wasim Jr. stitched a partnership and played under huge pressure. They added 34 runs for the 7th wicket and were unbeaten till the 19th over.
11 runs were needed in the final over and Pakistan managed to score 8 runs in the first three balls only.

But things took a turn from thereon. With three needed in the final three deliveries, Pakistan lost two wickets and fell 1 run short in the end.
