The Australian left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc has recently confirmed his participation in the 2024 IPL auction. This news has sent ripples of excitement among cricket enthusiasts and fans worldwide. Starc's decision to enter the auction comes as no surprise, considering his exceptional skills and remarkable performances in international cricket.

Starc is widely regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in contemporary cricket. His ability to generate extreme pace and swing the ball both ways make him a formidable force on any pitch. With a career spanning over a decade, Starc has consistently delivered match-winning performances for Australia across all formats of the game.

Starc last participated in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2015 competition. Due to an injury, he was forced to withdraw from the IPL 2018 for the Kolkata Knight Riders. But he had avoided the league in recent years in order to concentrate on increasing his workload as a bowler and giving his all for the Australian team in international cricket.

"Look it's been eight years. I'm definitely going back in (next) year. Amongst other things, it's a great lead-up to the T20 World Cup. So, a good opportunity to see if anyone's interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup. And it's somewhat of a quiet winter next year…in comparison to this winter, so I think a perfect opportunity to put my name in," said Starc to the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast about his return to IPL plan.

Star players in Australia squad suffering from Injuries

Australia’s preparations for the World Cup have been marred by injuries to key players. Many of their star players have been injured and are not participating in the South Africa series. Skipper Pat Cummins and steve Smith have been injured during the Ashes, while Starc has been kept out by a groin problem.

Australia plays their opening match of the World Cup against India in Chennai on 8 October. There are eight one-day matches still to play in South Africa and India before the final squad is due to be declared. They are followed by two World Cup practice games, which offers plenty of opportunity to continue the build for the tournament for Australian team.
