The Indian Premier League always brings with it an opportunity for young players to spend time with their idols and learn from them. Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have produced many players that have gone on to play for India.

One of the players that began his career with MI, Jitesh Sharma, now plays for the Punjab Kings. The emerging batter has given glimpses of what he can do for the team led by Shikhar Dhawan. While he did not get an opportunity to play for MI during his two years with them, he would have undoubtedly learned a lot from the game's legends.

Now, the Vidarbha player has spoken up about his time with the Mumbai Indians. He hailed the team's captain, Rohit Sharma, and disclosed a fan-boy moment with the Indian Premier League's most successful captain.

"I used to keep looking at Rohit sir from a distance on my debut season in Mumbai Indians, used to watch him bat & when he called my name for the first time, I felt like I received everything in my life," Jitesh said in an interaction with ESPNcricinfo.

In the meantime, fans on Twitter had mixed reactions at hearing the comments from the emerging player. While some users trolled Rohit Sharma, others said he deserved all the praise for producing so many players for India.ย "Proud to be a fan of @ImRo45," wrote a user. "Only his presence is enough for grooming youngsters," wrote another. 'Well paid Ritika," wrote a third.ย

As for the ongoing Indian Premier League, MI lost their first two matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings but bounced back with a win against Delhi Capitals. They currently stand in 9th place in the points table.

On the other hand, Punjab Kings have blown hot and cold this season. They began the season with two consecutive wins but lost their next two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans. They currently stand in 6th place in the points table.
