Iceland Cricket are known for their witty replies on Twitter. They have a way of making things humorous and funny. But they got themselves a taste of their own medicine as fans trolled them heavily after they announced their World XI in T20 cricket in 2022.

"Today we announce our world T20I XI of 2022 - Babar Azam, Virat Kohli, Glenn Phillips, Suryakumar Yadav, Jos Buttler, (c/wk.) Hardik Pandya, Sikandar Raza, P de Silva, Bhuvneshwar Kumar Josh Hazelwood Josh Little.", Cricket Ireland posted on Twitter.

This seems a very weird XI to put out as Babar Azam has struggled in T20s. In the 20-20 World Cup in Australia, he scored just 124 runs in 7 matches. He did not get going in the Asia Cup as well. Kohli seems the logical choice as he scored 296 runs in the 20-20 World Cup and was India’s best batter. He also scored his T20 century against Afghanistan in 2022.

Philips did not set the world on fire in T20s through the year but his highlight in 2022 will remain the big hundred that he got in the 20-20 World Cup against Sri Lanka. Suryakumar Yadav is a wise choice as he has been in great form and also scored more than 1000 runs this year in the format. He also was India’s second-best batter in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 after Virat Kohli. He scored 239 runs in six innings.

Jos Buttler being captain is another sensible move as he has, recently, led England to their second World Cup title since 2010. He scored 225 runs in the competition and made very good contributions for England at the top order.

Hardik Pandya has not played a lot of T20 cricket but fared well in the perennial tournament. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has not had a good year in T20s so far as he has picked up only 37 wickets from 32 games that he has played.

Josh Hazelwood has only recently come into his own in T20 cricket and also Josh Little is yet to play more high-profile cricket to mark where he stands as a cricketer. The fans on Twitter weren't too impressed with Cricket Ireland's best XI and, thus, trolled them badly.
