In what seems to be a delightful piece of news for Indian cricket fans, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli has started his preparations to keep himself fit for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Kohli was seen back at the gym on Monday as a picture of him in the gym started making rounds on social media.

Notably, the modern-day batting great was seen with the squad of Team India last time in the three-match ODI series against West Indies. Although, he couldn’t get to bat in the entire series after being placed lower in the batting order during the first ODI followed by a rest in the second and third ODI.

Currently, he is out of the action from international cricket and spending some time with his family apart from the cricket field. He also visited his 8-acre land in Alibaug with his wife and Bollywood actress, Anushka Sharma to begin the construction.

Speaking of cricket, the 34-year-old will be back on the field for India in the international cricket in their first match of the Asia Cup 2023 against the arch-rivals, Pakistan. Both teams will play this highly anticipated clash of the continental tournament at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy of Sri Lanka on the 2nd of September next month.

Apart from this, Kohli is also nearing a new milestone, which he could achieve during the 16th edition of the Asia Cup. The 2011 World Cup-winning batter is just 102 runs away from the historic milestone of 13,000 runs in the ODI format. After batting in 265 innings of the 275 ODIs, he played for India, Kohli has scored 12,898 runs with an impressive average of 57.32 including 46 centuries and 65 half-centuries with the bat.

Returning to Kohli’s gym session ahead of Asia Cup 2023, it drew a lot of contrasting reactions on social media. Fans came up with different kinds of opinions and responses; some of the fans also suggested Kohli focus more on cricketing practice instead of spending more time in the gym.
