'One of the biggest upset's in World Cup history'- Fans stunned as Saudi Arabia beat Argentina 2-1 at FIFA World Cup 2022

Saudi Arabia beat Argentina by a 2-1 margin to start their FIFA World Campaign on a high at the Lusail stadium in Qatar.

There was a massive upset as Saudi Arabia beat Argentina in Qatar by a 2-1 margin on November 22, Tuesday. This was a wonderful result for the men from Saudi Arabia as they beat a much-fancied Argentina side who have won the World Cup thrice. When Saudi Arabia won the game, they denied Argentina an opportunity to match Italy’s unbeaten 37-match streak which unfolded at the Lusail Stadium.

This was the first Group C match. Argentina were very good in the first half as Lionel Messi was in his element. He successfully converted a penalty in the 10th minute of the first half, Messi kicked the ball past Al Owais who went to the wrong side This gave Argentina the lead of 1-0. The penalty happened after the referee saw the ball on Leandro Parades with the help of the VAR monitor. They got off to a great beginning, courtesy of Messi. 

The Argentinians netted the ball three more times in the first half, but it was all in vain as they were disallowed for offside. In the second half, Saudi who could not manage to score a goal in the first half bounced back strongly and they were very successful with Saleh- Al Sehri Saleh scoring in the 48th minute.

Sehri slotted past Emiliano Martinez, which neutralised Argentina’s lead. Then they had a firm grip on the game when Salem Al Dawsari scored in the 53rd minute. He curled in a stunning strike to give the Asian side a 2-1 lead, making matters worse for the South Americans. Al Owasi showed his top-notch goalkeeping skills as he made five saves in the match. The finishing touches were provided by Al Amiri got the ball away from the line which gave Saudi a win for the ages in Qatar.
