India suffered an early collapse against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 match in Chennai. On a tricky wicket to bat on, India lost three batters in the first two overs. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were on fire and gave a mini heart attack to the Indian supporters. The failure of the Indian batters was soon criticized by the former cricketers, including Yuvraj Singh.

The former Indian number 4 questioned the shot selection of Shreyas Iyer. "No 4 batsman has to absorb the pressure !! Need better thinking from @ShreyasIyer15 when team is trying to rebuild their innings! Still don’t understand why @klrahul is not batting at no 4 ! After scoring a 100 against Pakistan!" said the former Indian cricketer.

As Yuvraj criticized the shot selection of Iyer. he batted for KL Rahul batting at number 4 for India. The former Indian batter reminded his followers of how good KL Rahul was against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023. Yuvraj further mentioned that the dropped catch of Virat might cost Australia the match. He felt that Virat could take the game away from Australia.

'Don't drop the king because he can take the game away' - Yuvraj Singh

"Dropping @imVkohli might cost Australia big time, don’t drop the king cause he can take the game away. Game on !! #IndiaVsAus #WorldCup2023," wrote the former World Cup winner on his Twitter. Yuvraj felt upbeat about the match between India and Australia. The former Indian cricketer, who has the experience of playing well against Australia on big occasions, gave his thoughts about the Indian innings.

The Australian bowlers got a bit more from the Chennai wicket. With the new ball, Starc got the ball to swing, which was not available for the Indian pacers. Josh Hazlewood got the ball to nip back into the right-handers. For the Indian pacers, there was no movement off the surface. Pat Cummins got some extra bounce from the surface. But the Indian spinners spun the ball well and gave the early lead to the Indian team by restricting Australia to 199 runs.
