Ishan Kishan was tasked with the job of delivering messages to the Indian team during the game on Sunday. One such instance saw Rohit Sharma the Indian skipper being in an intense conversation with Ishan Kishan,

Eagle-eyed Ravi Shastri saw this and remarked “Ulta seedha bol diya kuch aur baad main  batsman bataya andar jaake ki mereko Ishan ne bola yeh karne ko.. phir toh chaddi aur kiska niklega”. Ravi Shastri said this in jest at a time when Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli were going great guns with the bat.

The Indian team scored 326 runs from their 50 overs thanks to Virat Kohli who was unbeaten on 101. This was his 49th ODI century to go level with Sachin Tendulkar. Shreyas Iyer batted well to score 77 runs from 87 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Chasing 327 to win, South Africa were bowled out for just 83 runs in the 28th over of their innings. Marco Jansen top scored with 14 runs, while David Miller scored 11 runs. Ravindra Jadeja picked 5/33 with the ball to register his best bowling figures in ODI Cricket. This was also the 2nd time an Indian spinner had picked 5-wickets in ODI World Cup history.

Rohit Sharma heaped praise on Virat Kohli when the Indian skipper said “We needed Kohli to go out there and play the situation. We then knew we had to keep it in the right areas and let the pitch do the rest".
