Rassie Van Der Dussen took the ODI World Cup 2023 second semi-final by storm. The 34-year-old threw his body on the line to dismiss Mitchell Marsh to give his side hopes in Kolkata. The game between Australia and South Africa is to determine who will face India in the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament on Sunday.

The South Africans were bowled out for just 212 runs after batting first thanks to a fighting century by David Miller. It was a disappointing day with the bat for the South Africans who had scored freely during the group phase matches.

Marcus Stoinis and Sean Abbott made way for Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc. Andile Phelukwayo and Lungi Ngidi were replaced by Tabraiz Shamsi and Kagiso Rabada for the South African side.

Kagiso Rabada was bowling the 8th over of the Australian innings who had made a great start to the chase. Mitchell Marsh saw width outside the off-stump and threw his hands as the ball flew to Rassie Van Der Dussen.

In what can be dubbed the best catch of the ODI World Cup 2023, Rassie Van Der Dussen dove in the air to take a wonderful two-handed catch. Mitchell Marsh was out for a duck to give South Africa their second wicket.

David Warner and Travis Head added 60 runs for the 1st wicket in 6 overs in pursuit of 213 runs. Aiden Markram was bought into the attack and made an immediate impact getting the wicket of Warner bowled for 29 runs off 18 balls.

After the fall of Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith came to join Travis Head as the pair added 45 runs for the 3rd wicket. Travis Head scored yet another half-century before he was bowled by Keshav Maharaj. The Australians at that stage needed 107 runs with more than 36 overs left to play.

101 by David Miller and 47 by Heinrich Klaasen helped South Africa reach 212 before being bowled out in the final over. At one stage South Africa were 24/4 before Klaasen and Miller added 95 runs for the 5th wicket to bail their side out of trouble.
