India cruised past Pakistan by seven wickets on Saturday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The two-time World Champions are in sensational form as they have won all of their three matches of the ODI World Cup 2023. Skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were the highest run-getters for their side as no other batter looked in control against the bowling attack of India.
After being put into bat first Pakistan got off to a good start as they were 155/2 at one stage of the game. As the wicket of Babar Azam fell their innings got collapsed and they were bundled out for 191/10. As the match was over, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam were seen having a conversation with each other. The former India skipper gifted a signed jersey to the Pakistan skipper.
Former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram slammed Babar for the gesture of asking for the jersey in public. Putting the weight of defeat they suffered against the Men in Blue. He believes it should be done inside the dressing room and not in front of the whole crowd.

Wasim Akram says Babar Azam shouldn't have asked for Virat Kohli's shirt after Pakistan's big defeat against India tonight. It wasn't the right time to do that! Do you agree? #CWC23 #INDvsPAK pic.twitter.com/csFm2TmToV

If you want to do it, if your uncle’s son has asked you to get Kohli’s shirt – then do it after the game in the dressing room: Wasim Akram
Akram was not at all pleased with the gesture. During a discussion on the show, 'The Pavilion', after the match, a fan question was asked where the person had criticised the Pakistan skipper for his moment with Kohli. It stated, "I can see Babar is receiving two shirts from Virat Kohli. Everybody is showing this clip over and over again. But after your fans are so hurt after a disappointing performance, this should be a private matter, it should not be done in an open ground."
Akram while agreeing with the fan's question stated, "That’s what I exactly said when I saw the picture [getting the shirts publicly, not privately]. Today was not the day to do this. If you want to do it – if your uncle’s son has asked you to get Kohli’s shirt – then do it after the game in the dressing room."
