Taskin Ahmed slams the pitches on offer
Taskin Ahmed the Bangladeshi fast bowler expressed his displeasure with the wickets on offer so far. The 28-year-old spoke to the media before the game in Kolkata on Saturday versus the Netherlands.
The fast bowler said "So far, I played in this World Cup and I have been watching. It's nothing much for the bowlers. It's kind of batting friendly, all the grounds,” Pakistan chased down 345 versus Sri Lanka with ease. The likes of Australia and South Africa have nearly scored 400 runs.
The highest total of the ODI World Cup 2023 was the 428 scored by South Africa versus Sri Lanka in New Delhi. Taskin also said “On these batting-friendly wickets in India, the teams who have a long batting, they are getting benefited. None of the subcontinent teams, barring India, are able to do well. The teams who have been able to score big totals they are doing well and have more success rates”
With runs being scored at breakneck speed, Taskin Ahmed lamented the lack of success for Fast bowlers. The 28–year–old said "So, in this kind of conditions, it's not all about speed. You need some variation skills and game awareness. So, it's not all about speed. You need a lot of skills to do well in this kind of surfaces,"
The fast bowler hoped his team could win the game to keep their ODI World Cup 2023 hopes alive. "Look if we lose the match everything is tricky but definitely in this kind of match the pressure is much more because of the expectation because everyone feels that we have to win,"
