KL Rahul was the talk of the day when he took an outstanding catch to dismiss Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Thursday 19th of October saw the Indian team take on Bangladesh in Pune. It was the fourth game of the ODI World Cup 2023 for both teams.

Najmul Hossain Shanto was elevated as the skipper after Shakib Al Hasan pulled out of the game. Rohit Sharma lost his fourth toss in a row as he was yet again asked to bowl first. The Indian skipper though said that even he was looking to chase if he had won the toss.

While Bangladesh made one change to their team, India went in with the same side. The Indians had won all their three previous encounters of the ODI World Cup 2023. Bangladesh began with a win against Afghanistan before losing to New Zealand and England.

KL Rahul turns superman to take a superb catch

Rohit Sharma wanted to make quick inroads after Bangladesh had lost two wickets. This prompted the Indian skipper to get Mohammad Siraj for another spell. The move paid off when Siraj targeted the ribs of Mehidy Hasan Miraz with a short ball.

The batter found a thick edge as the ball was on its way to the boundary. KL Rahul though stunned everyone with a flying catch down the leg side to remove the Bangladeshi batter. Siraj had got India a huge wicket as Miraz went back to the hut after scoring just 3 runs.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh ended up scoring 256 for the loss of 8 wickets from their 50 overs. For the first time during the ODI World Cup 2023, India did not pick any wickets in the first ten overs.

Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das added 93 runs for the first wicket under 15 overs as Tanzid went after the Indian bowlers. The left-hander was out LBW to Kuldeep while trying to sweep after scoring 51 runs. Shanto was done in by Ravindra Jadeja when he was struck on the pads while going back to a ball spinning in as he was out for 8 runs.

After the fall of Miraz, Litton Das was out-caught by Shuman Gill off Jadeja for 66. Shardul Thakur then got Towhid Hridoy for 16 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah scored 38 and 46 each to help Bangladesh reach 256. Bumrah, Siraj, and Jadeja picked two wickets each with the ball for India.
