New Zealand star batter and captain Kane Williamson rated Virat Kohli as his current favourite player in the world. Kane Williamson is part of the Fab 4 club which is an esteemed club of the top 4 batters of the world including Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Joe Root.
In an interview with the host broadcaster Star Sports Kane Williamson was asked about his favourite batter in the current generation to which he replied by saying Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson are of the same age group and have played against each other since the 2008 Under-19 World Cup that took place in Malaysia.
Virat and Kane share a special bond both on and off the field and are often seen exchanging pleasantries with each other, so this answer from Kane Williamson has not come as a surprise to their fans. Also when asked about his all-time favourite batter, Kane Williamson picked up India’s legend Sachin Tendulkar as his favourite batter growing up whom he looked upon in his budding years.
Kane Williamson enjoys a huge fan following all over the world, especially in India. He has been an excellent batter over the years for New Zealand but more than that he is loved for his calm demeanour and gentlemanly approach towards the game. This will most probably be Kane Williamson’s last ODI World Cup and he would want to end his campaign by winning it for New Zealand and make up for the last World Cup’s heartbreaking loss.
Do-or-die match against Sri Lanka
New Zealand are facing Sri Lanka in their last league match in Bengaluru which is a do-or-die affair for New Zealand. If they manage to win this match, then they will most likely qualify for the semi-finals unless Pakistan or Afghanistan pulls off a miraculous win against England or South Africa.
But if they lose it, they won’t have their fortune in their hands and they will have to pray for Pakistan and Afghanistan to lose their last league matches.
