The huge crowd in Pune went back home happy after the Indian Cricket Team won their 4th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. On Wednesday New Zealand had beaten Afghanistan by 149 runs to go top of the table. This win for the Indian team now puts them at the top as they aim to make it to the semi-finals of the tournament.

It was a disappointing day for Bangladesh and its fans as they were outplayed in all departments by the Indian team. This was the third successive loss for the Bangladeshis in the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament.

India will next face New Zealand on Sunday in Dharamshala in what is going to be top of a top-of-the-table clash. Bangladesh will travel to Mumbai where they will face a hungry and wounded South African team.

India eased past Bangladesh to record an easy win –

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first with Shakib AL Hasan being replaced by Nazmul Hossain Shanto as the skipper. The Indian bowlers looked lost for ideas as Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das went after the bowling.

The openers added 93 runs for the first wicket with Tanzid Hasan in particular being the aggressor. The left-hander scored 51 runs before he was out to Kuldeep Yadav. This was followed by three more quick wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja trapped Shanto out of LBW for 8, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz was out for 3 to Mohammad Siraj. Liton Das tried to up the ante and in the process was caught by Shubman Gill off Jadeja for 66.

Mahmudullah with 46 from 36 balls and Mushfiqur Rahim with 38 runs were the contributors lower down the order. This effort helped the visitors reach 256/9 from their 50 overs. Bumrah, Jadeja, and Siraj led the bowling charts with 2 wickets each.

Chasing 257 to win, Rohit Sharma went after the Bangladeshi bowlers scoring 48 runs. Shubman Gill got his first-ever fifty in the ODI World Cup as he scored 53 runs from 55 balls. Shreyas Iyer couldn’t follow up on his half-century against Pakistan before falling for 19.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli was the star with the bat as he led the Indian batting chase. The 34-year-old also went past 26,000 runs becoming the fastest batter to get to the feat. Kohli dramatically scored his 48th ODI ton as he hit Nasum Ahmed for a six to reach the mark.
