During the ODI World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday, former Indian pacer Doda Ganesh unleashed a vicious attack on Shardul Thakur. Due to an injury, Shardul bowled nine overs and gave up fifty-nine runs at an economy rate of 6.60 while Hardik Pandya was sidelined.

Towhid Hridoy was removed from the team by the all-rounder, but Ganesh was not pleased with his contributions. The former Indian cricket player said on social media that Shardul would not even be included in Karnataka's playing XI for domestic cricket based only on his bowling ability.

In the 2023 ODI  World Cup against Australia, Shardul did not play in the opening match. However, he came on as a substitute for Ravichandran Ashwin in the second game, and he has since participated in every match.

Kohli's century nears Tendulkar's record, Bangladesh's semi-final hopes fade

India overcame Bangladesh by seven wickets on Thursday thanks to the captain's unbeaten century, which also marked the team's fourth victory in four World Cup matches. The star batter is getting closer to Sachin Tendulkar's record for most ODI hundreds.

It took Kohli three runs to get his century and two more runs for India to meet their goal of 257, but he finished the match with style, hitting a six off spinner Nasum Ahmed. With nearly eight overs remaining, they reached their objective and concluded at 261-3.

With his 48th one-day international century, Kohli is just one wicket short of the all-time record of 49 hundreds at this level held by the great Tendulkar of India.

With this century, Kohli has reached over fifty runs in four innings, having previously scored 85 and 55 not out in pool matches against Australia and Afghanistan. Kohli faced 97 balls, including six fours and four sixes.

However, Bangladesh faced an uphill battle to make it to the semi-finals after suffering their third loss in four games.
