South Africa handed Australia their second defeat in the ODI World Cup 2023. Chasing a target of 312 runs Australia was bowled out for 177 runs. The five-time World Champions have now lost four consecutive matches in the ODI World Cup history. The Temba Bavuma-led side are currently at the top of the points table with a huge net run rate of +2.360 after their 134-run win in the second match.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had a decent outing with the ball. The bowler picked up two wickets with an economy of 3.40. But he did not find his form with the bat as he was dismissed for just 3 runs off 17 deliveries. After Maxwell returned to the pavilion he was seen vaping, which is an electronic cigarette. Maxwell is yet to perform with the bat in the marquee event as the batter has not fired for the champions.

The Pat Cummins-led side is one of the favourites to win the 2023 World Cup. But nothing has gone in their favour right now they would need to fix the problems and come out on top to qualify for the top 4 of the mega event. Marnus Labuschagne was the highest run scorer for the Kangaroos, he scored 46 runs off 74 balls.

We are proud of the effort: Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell was happy with the way the Kangaroos bowled in the death. He said, "Different flows there, on track for 350-plus but we got wickets at crucial times. We are proud of the effort." Further speaking about Quinton de Kock's century he stated, "Tired of seeing Quinton make runs, he's a superstar, but nice to get him out."

He further added, "After the last couple of nights, the dew did come in, but this ground has been ripped up and re-laid. Hopefully it skids on under the lights." The Aussies will face Sri Lanka and Pakistan in their next two World Cup matches.
