Football legend David Beckham expected to watch India vs New Zealand ODI WC semi-final clash with Sachin Tendulkar

Football great David Beckham is expected to be present for the first semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 which is going to take place between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. According to a report by Revsport, David Beckham will be present there in the capacity of UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and will watch the match alongside India’s legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar.

David Beckham is also a popular celebrity in India and enjoys a cult fan following among millions of football fans nationwide. India will face the Kiwi challenge in the 1st semifinals of the World Cup and will come out to avenge the semi-final loss against them in the last ODI World Cup in 2019. 

India has been in sublime form in the World Cup and has topped the league stage with stamping authority by winning all 9 matches convincingly. On the other side after winning their first 4 matches, New Zealand’s World Cup campaign saw a downward spiral when they lost 4 consecutive matches resulting in a danger of ouster from the tournament. Still, they again came back to winning ways by toppling Sri Lanka in their last league match and secured a place in the semi-finals.

Wankhede is ready for the big occasion

New Zealand has been an Achilles heel for India in the Apex Cricket Council tournaments as India has managed to win only 3 matches out of the 4 played against them and the last semi-finals that India lost after finishing at the top in Group stages still haunts the Indian fans. But India’s victory against them in the league stages at Dharamshala would have given them confidence and they will start as favourites against New Zealand in the semi-finals.
